Derbyshire has maintained its focus on production and improvement of small lathes from its founding.From 1911 Derbyshire has built extremely accurate spindles for many years this meant plain "cone bearing"type as ball bearings of extremely accurate grade only became available after the second World War.

Derbyshire inc. we have been building the finest quality lathes for small and micro parts since 1911. today we build three basic types of manual instrument lathes with two different spindle capacities and a wide selection of options and accessories: the Magnus Instrument Lathe and the Model A . in addition to the manual lathes we have been building gang tooled cnc lathes since 1987. we also manufacture collets including the webster/whitcomb or( w/w ) and the Magnus/elect (m/e) also referred to as the "D" or Derbyshire style collet
