Designed from the ground up with meticulous attention to detail, this "new" 10K lathe has the traditional South Bend lines as well as many modern innovations. Some of its well thought-out features include a 1150 RPM 1 HP motor, D1-3 camlock spindle, serpentine multi-groove belt drive system with a Gates® belt, T-slotted cross slide, tailstock barrel with 3.149" travel, inch and metric threading ability and much, much more. South Bend's Signature three v-way bed is hardened and precision ground, and the 28" between centers handles most jobs with ease. A very popular lathe coveted by small shops!

South Bend Lathe Works was founded in 1906 by the O'Brien twin brothers after they graduated from Purdue University in Indiana. Within just a quarter of a century, South Bend Lathe Works became the largest manufacturer of precision metalworking lathes in the world with customers in more than 88 countries, and machines which were used in every type of industry including schools, home workshops and large manufacturers. A couple of very famous customers included Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Our largest customers are the US Navy and Army as well as many departments of our Government.
